Borum Airport Marker
The marking out of airport runways makes very special demands on the contractors professionalism, his attitude to safety during the work and, in particular, the operating reliability of the equipment, as the runways often have to be closed for take-offs and landings while the work is carried out.
Borum has supplied machines for runway marking in airports for many years, including a BM 500 equipped with an airport marker for Thule Airbase in arctic North Greenland, where the climate and the short period of time available for marking during favourable periods of weather make extreme demands on the machine.
What is characteristic about most airports is the need to mark large areas, which means that the capacity and efficiency of your machine are key factors.
In most airports the marking of runways is done by cold paint or cold paint airless application without use of beads. When choosing your airport line marking machine you should take the below-mentioned needs into consideration. If you outline the requirements then we will help you find the machine which is most suitable for the job:
- The need for different markings throughout the airport
- The need for different colours of the markings
- The need for different sizes of the lines, depending on their function
A few airports use hot thermoplastic for their markings and some airports also use beads. Naturally we also have machines available to accommodate these requirements. Please ask.
For marking of the surrounding areas with high traffic density, e.g. airport parking lots, this could be done as manual work with a hand screed box, supplied from a small trailer with preheater. Please refer to our datasheet for this kind of equipment.
